we all know m$ is stuffed from day one... the only people i could imagine buying the zune are m$ fanboys or apple haters... "bet your ipod can't do this"... so what...
i had been expecting something huge like this to come out today... and i'm expecting bigger still...
how long till somebody makes an adaptor for the zune to make use of the apple dock connector?

While it doesn't seem surprising that Jobs did all the talking, I would hope that he could also listen a bit and maybe glean some insight on what's going on in Schmidt's head.

I think the next big project might be to reorganise the Guides category by adding appropriate subcategories such as (for example) Mac Hardware Guides, Mac OS X Guides, iPod Guides etc. It's getting quite large as it is, and it might make it easier to find relevant articles.
It shouldn't be too bad, there are only 120 articles in the Guides category, so any changes should be much simpler than what I've done. And also you can also go through the standard categories to find the guide articles now.
I think getting more people editing the rest of the guides and getting people using the guides is the next step, especially from the iPod/iPhone side.
As well as a lot of very short articles there is a lot of good content already there.

I hope it fixes the USB connection to Canon cameras. They broke it with 10.4.7. I'm still booting from my portable backup drive when shooting tethered (looks really pro on location).
I dread the going-backwards-sytem-reinstall BS tho, so that's what I have been doing.
My EOS 400D works fine (in tethered mode as well as just transfering from the memory card)?

If Apple did jump into mobile phone smartphone world, do you think they'd maybe license Symbian, since of the established phone OSes it's the most flexible and customizable? They could pull a unix/OS X on the symbian OS, and since most of the US wouldn't know a symbian phone if it walked up to them, sucker punched them, screamed "SYMBIAN IS A RILLY GOOD OS" right into their ear and then left a calling card.

I think it was simple economics - take out the BL keyboard to get the cost under $999 and keep the margins at 30%.
However, as tech gets more mature, and the R&D Cost is recouped for the new design, I think they can re-add the BL Keyboard w/o sacrificing the $999 Price-point or the 30% margins.
As you said, it wasn't just "for fun", but "for profit" and if they can maintain that profit, and return a marquee feature like the BL Keyboard, why not?

I'm a writer and it (Pages) is totally unsuitable. Clearly a wannabe DTP program, ala Publisher. I'm sure Pages is great for doing a church newsletter. For any moderately-serious writing, Pages is unacceptable.
